Parents, teachers, institutional representatives all gathered in Harlem’s cozy neighborhood pizzeria Sottocasa to celebrate the progress of Manhattan’s first dual language Italian program at the local PS 242. Together they discussed the benefits of bilingualism, shared their experiences and planned for the future of the program.

The Association of Italian American Educators (AIAE), together with The John D. Calandra Italian American Institute, is conducting a survey for a book on the growth and impact of Italian-American educators on the American education system. The International Women’s Day and "Excellence in Education" are the main themes of the Benefit Gala 2019 organized by La Scuola d’Italia Guglielmo Marconi. The school will celebrate three "Women of Distinction": i-Italy founder and editor-in-chief Letizia Airos, Maria Tamburri (NOIAW - The National Organization of Italian American Women ) and Ivana Lo Stimolo (New York Italian Women). With their work, their passion, creativity and entrepreneurship, they are considered a source of inspiration for future generations of women. Special honorees the rectors of Bocconi University and LUISS Guido Carli. Over 350 guests will attend the funding event At Cipriani Wall Street.

This Italian immersion school in San Francisco started as a playgroup in 2002 and now counts 320 children. Director Valentina Imbeni: "Parents from different backgrounds chose us not only because they love Italy and Italian culture but also because we are inspired by the Reggio Emilia educational approach and are the First International Baccalaureate (IB) K8 World School in the city."
