  • Our second immersion in what's Italian in the New York classical music scene. The Met announces its new season while Muti debuts with Verdi's Attila. The DiCapo Opera Theatre presents a new work, while March promises plenty of Italian repertoire
  • The theatrical performance "Salonika 1943", held at the Primo Levi Center on February 18, wrapped up this year's celebrations of Remembrance Day. We attended the event, in which the work was presented in English for the first time, and interviewed one of its authors, the former Ambassador of Italy to Israel and Greece, Gian Paolo Cavarai
  • "Opera continues to be the great live performing art form and we continue to have great performers. I think that the quality and education of singers is better than ever, while what may be missing today is the personal culture of each singer. I think we can improve opera by restoring that sense of culture to audiences, singers and especially stage directors." Mr. Plotkin is the host of the series "Adventures in Italian Opera", held at Casa Italiana Zerilli-Marimò at NYU.
  • President of the Accademia Giovanni Ballarini
    On February 9 the Accademia Italiana della Cucina celebrated the 50th Anniversary of its New York Delegation. President Giovanni Ballarini and Delegate Francesca Baldeschi Balleani honored ten fellow Italians and those businesses who throughout the years have been outstanding in spreading and promoting Italian cuisine in NY. The Italian Trade Commission, directed by Mr. Aniello Musella, in collaboration with the Italian Government Tourism Board/North America, directed by Mr. Riccardo Strano sponsored the sumptuous dinner, held at the Metropolitan Club.
