The Oscar-winning Italian-American director is back on the Croisette with "The Bling Ring," seven years after "Marie Antoinette" famously was booed. Now the one-time "it" girl is opening up at last about filmmaking, her father, her first marriage and the childhood tragedy that still haunts her.

 Six people were killed and three are missing after a container ship crashed into a control tower in the northern Italian port of Genoa, rescuers said on Wednesday.The tower, which was more than 160 feet high and looked much like the ones common at airports, collapsed into the water late on Tuesday after being struck by the prow of the vessel, the Jolly Nero.

 Cecile Kyenge, Italy's first black government minister, proposes a law that would give citizenship to the children of immigrants if they are born on Italian soil. Under the current legislation, Italian nationality is passed on most commonly by blood, meaning the grandchildren of an Italian who has never set foot in the country has more rights to citizenship than someone who was born in Rome to foreign parents.
 

 Enrico Battaglin of Italy sprinted to victory on the fourth stage of the Giro d’Italia on Tuesday, while compatriot Luca Paolini retained the overall leader’s pink jersey.Battaglin beat fellow Italians Fabio Felline and Giovanni Visconti in a bunch sprint on rainy, cobbled streets to claim his first Grand Tour stage victory.

 Italian supercar maker Lamborghini is about to turn 50, and what better way to celebrate than by touring Italy with a convoy of 350 Lamborghinis? Nearly 15,000 feet long and making over 190,000 horsepower, the procession will start in Milan later this week, and will include every model from the original 350 GT to the current V12 Aventador.

 Luca Paolini of Italy used a late solo attack to win the third stage of the Giro d'Italia on Monday and take the overall lead from compatriot Salvatore Puccio.Paolini, who rides for Katusha, broke away toward the end of the final descent to complete the 138-mile leg from Sorrento to Marina di Ascea in 5 hours, 43 minutes, 50 seconds.
